Jonas Schlouch, Jr.

Jonas Schlouch Jr., a man of profound thoughtfulness, boundless love, and remarkable generosity, completed his earthly journey on March 23, 2024, at the age of 73. He passed away peacefully in his hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the family that meant the world to him. His departure was due to a valiant battle with cancer, one that he faced with the same courage and dignity that characterized his entire life.

Born on August 1, 1950, in Reading, Jonas's life was a tapestry of hard work, dedication to his loved ones, and an unwavering commitment to the simple joys of life. Jonas was a man whose heart belonged to the great outdoors. Hunting was not just a hobby for him, but a passion that allowed him to connect with nature. His garden was a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit.

Above all, Jonas was a family man. He found his greatest happiness in the company of his wife, Barbara Schlouch, and their daughters, Candace Focht and Michelle Brazenec. His role as a grandfather to Tyler and Taylor Brazenec was one he embraced with joy and enthusiasm, always eager to impart wisdom or share in their adventures.

Those who knew Jonas will remember him for the quiet strength he exuded, his readiness to lend a helping hand. The void left by Jonas's absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As the seasons change and the deer roam the forests he once walked, as the flowers bloom and the plants bear fruit in the garden he tenderly cultivated, we will find reminders of Jonas and the love he shared so freely. Jonas Schlouch Jr.'s life, in every role he played—husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend—he brought a level of authenticity and compassion that enriched the lives of all who crossed his path.   His memory will be cherished, his influence treasured, and his absence sincerely mourned by all who loved him. 

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Giles & Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut Street, Mohnton, with Certified Celebrant, Wendy Lyn Yeckley, officiating.  Friends may call to greet the family one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be private at Robeson Lutheran Church Cemetery in Plowville.
